Los bastardos by
Amat Escalante, premieres in theaters

Selected for the Un Certain Regard section at the 2008
Cannes Film Festival, the film has also won other awards, including Best Picture
in the New Visions section at the Sitges festival, Best Latin American Film at
the Festival de Mar de Plata, Best Director at the Bratislava
International Film Festival and the Jury' s Special Award at Courmayeur Film
Noir Italia.

 Escalante also received the FIPRESCI International Federation of
Film Critics prize at Cannes for
his first film Sangre, exhibited at
FICM 2005.

Los bastardos is about
a day in the lives of Jesús and Fausto, two Mexican undocumented workers living
in Los Angeles. Tired of living day
by day, they decide to do something they' ve never done before, a decision that dramatically
changes their destiny.
