Experimental feature film by Salvador Dalí online

Possibly Salvador Dalí’s most famous participation in the seventh art is his collaboration with Luis Buñuel in Un Chien Andalou (1929) and L’Age D’Or (1930), however, these are not the only times the Catalonian artist worked in film. Dalí also explored the territory of video art with Impressions de la haute Mongolie. Hommage a Raymond Roussel (1974-75), a “documentary” which, according to UbuWeb has not been more widely distributed because of some copyright problems. Fortunately, this same website has shared it online.

This material, written in collaboration with the director José Montes Baquer, narrates Dalí’s adventures in Mongolia in the search of the Great White Mushroom. Inspired by the psychedelic esthetics of the 70’s, the film offers the spectator the possibility of exploring the cosmos along with this famous madman, of joining Dalí in a “trip” to a distant and exotic country where wonderful treasures are hidden.
