The UNAM's Film Archive Gold Medal Award to Terry Gilliam for Prestigious Director

In response to the eulogies regarding his brilliant cinematographic trajectory, Gilliam commented: “When I hear the reasons that this award was given, I don’t feel that it is me. I don’t recognize myself. It is an honor to be at this Festival. It is quite wonderful, magical and splendid.”

I am surprised and delighted to find that my films have been liked here also, even loved…Being a protestant from a cold, Northern state of the US, I am very moved that my films can be appreciated by such warm and wonderful people. I don’t know why you deserve to be so wonderful,” he said directly to the audience, “you are so much warmer than those who live in the United Kingdom. There is something very special about this place. Thank you “

Cindy..any ideal wherethis could go? After the ceremony concluded, Daniela Michel asked if he could say a few words about Time Bandits. Gilliam gladly accepted and explained that the film was made with the same company as that of Monty Python …explain?

Gilliam showed the film script to the manager, who was not interested in it at all: that was the script of the film Brazil. Therefore, he tried to write a story that would be for children and adults, from the perspective of a child. I realized that it would be too much for a single child, and that the film would need a team; a tema of little people. It would be a film about those who thought that life robbing would be more interesting than being in heaven. And in this case, before they would be caught, they would escape by going back in time.

Michael palin, who helped me write the script and I had a great surprise, because we had said that once the knight took off his helmet, it would be someone like Sean Connery, never expecting to have him in the film. But our manager happened to be playing golf with him after that, gave him the script, which he read and liked and said “yes”. But there was no money. George Harrison (of the battles?) mortgaged his house to raise the money, and they made the film. Then he took it to Hollywood, and they didn’t want it. So again, George Harrison guaranteed the money feral of the publicity costs, and the film made plenty of money.

He told the audience: “so, don’t trust the Hollywood studios. They don’t know what the public wants.
