Gustavo R. Gallardo

The Mexican film La huella de unos labios, directed by Julián Hernández, was presented at the 21st edition of the Morelia International Film Festival (FICM).

In La huella de unos labios, Román is a B movie actor who is confined to his apartment while a pandemic keeps the world on edge. Aldo, a young indigenous man, is an essential worker who is allowed to go out. The two live across the street from each other in a housing unit. They know each other online, speak to and even see each other on video calls, but can't meet. Eventually, the temptation to break their confinement arises.

"Presenting this film in Morelia is very exciting for us because it is a movie that we made completely independently during the pandemic. It's a film that speaks of the absolute necessity of desire, of love during the lockdown, of having that be both so far away and so close to our lives," explained filmmaker Julián Hernández.

La huella de unos labios stars Hugo Catalán, Mauricio Rico and Luis Vegas, and is directed by Julián Hernández, author of Mil nubes de paz cercan el cielo, amor, jamás acabarás de ser amor (2003) and Yo soy la felicidad de este mundo (2014), among others.
