Legendary film director and screenwriter James Ivory, Guest of Honor at the 21st Morelia International Film Festival (FICM), received the Ojo de Plata, the festival's emblematic award, which consists of an eye sculpture by Michoacán artist Javier Marín

"For his tireless crusade to turn literature into image and transform words into spaces and colors; for his endless vitality and generosity, the Morelia International Film Festival presents this lifetime achievement award to our dear friend, James Ivory," said FICM President Alejandro Ramírez before the screening of an audiovisual tribute celebrating Ivory and his cinematographic mastery.

As part of the special screenings dedicated to the multi-Oscar and BAFTA Award nominee, The Remains of the Day (1993) was screened. The film was presented by film critic Jorge Negrete in the presence of Daniela Michel, founder and general director of FICM, and Alejandro Ramírez, president of the festival, who presented Ivory with the Ojo de Plata (Silver Eye) award.

After receiving the award and before screening the film, Ivory said: "Thank you very much, I was very moved to hear the words they said, both in English and then in Spanish, and I was also very moved to see these images, so thank you very much to the festival, thanks to Morelia, thanks to all of you. If I had known I was going to receive the award, I would have shaved."

James Ivory visited FICM for the first time in 2019 when he was honored with the unveiling of his armchair and the presentation of the UNAM Film Archive Medal.
