We also adopted elements from the world of classic Mexican gangster movies, like Juan Orol’s.” Screenwriter Luis Terán added that Kasper Guzmán’s multiple personalities play upon the notion of one’s identity: “Obsessions often come to the surface when you write, along with what’s most important or interesting to you. What I really wanted was to create an atmosphere through images or music. I think that’s what grabs people’s attention, whether they like the film or not.” Makhlouf remarked that he is about to finish his next project, a documentary on surrealist painter Alan Glass. “I’d like to present it at next year’s Festival; Glass is a contemporary of Remedios Varo and Leonora Carrington. He made box-objects; I made the film because I wanted you all to be acquainted with his work.”
