The Industry Academy in Latin America 2021 Workshop Begins

The Industry Academy in Latin America workshop, an initiative that the Morelia International Film Festival (FICM) has organized since 2015 in alliance with the Locarno Film Festival, began its virtual activities.

Industry Academy is an intensive training program which objective is to train and support young industry professionals working in the areas of online and traditional distribution, sales, film marketing, exhibition and programming so that they understand and can face the challenges of the independent Ibero-American audiovisual industry and the world.

Eight young professionals in the film industry from Argentina, Mexico, Bolivia, Peru and Brazil will learn about the processes to bring films to life beyond the screen.

The Industry Academy program was held for the first time at the Locarno Festival in 2014. The program is dedicated to young professionals working in the areas of international sales, marketing, distribution, exhibition and programming (festivals, film clubs, museums, cinematheques). It was created to support their positioning in the circuits and allow them to interact directly with regional and international professionals who are key players in the industry.

Industry Academy acts as a shortcut for a new generation of professionals entering the independent film industry, fostering their development, as well as helping them better understand the challenges of the industry and expand their networks. The Locarno Industry Academy International also aims to build a bridge over different markets in Europe, North America, Latin America, and the Middle East.
