The FICM at the National Cinematheque

Magdalena Acosta, Director of the National Cinematheque, and Cuauhtémoc Cárdenas Batel, Honorary Vicepresident of the FICM, inaugurated the Fourth International Morelia Film Fest at the National Cinematheque.

Acosta stressed the fact that this event has been a huge success, in particular the program Retrospectives, and thanked the FICM for the opportunity of showing the award-winning films at the Cinematheque.

Cárdenas Batel thanked the Cinematheque for all its support, and invited the audience to attend the screenings, which will go on until November 12th.

The inaugural event included the following films: El doctor. Suzan Pitt (35mm/23 min.) Best Short Animation Film ; Reincidente (Backslider) Antonio Flores (video/6 min.) Best Short from Michoacan; En el cielo como en la tierra. Natalia López (video/20 min.) Best Experimental Short; Ver llover. Elisa Miller (video/14 min.) Best Fiction Short. La palomilla salvaje. Gustavo Gamou (video/55 min.) Best Documentary from Mexico. After the screening, Elisa Miller y and actors Diego Cataño y Sofía Espinosa took part in a question and answer session. Miller talked about how she shot her film in Yautepec, Morelos, in five days, and worked on the postproduction for three months. “Its an exercise for Film School, we just wanted to tell a simple story.” The program will also show on the 10th and 11th at 6:45 PM.
