Anne Delseth

Anne Delseth

Anne studied journalism in Fribourg where she rapidly got involved in the Fribourg International Film Festival, initially as volunteer, secretary, director’s assistant and eventually programmer. While later obtaining a degree in cultural management, she worked for distribution and as a production assistant and then returned to Fribourg Film Festival as deputy director (2008-2011). In 2011 she left for Paris to try international sales, but after a few months, was sourced to be part of the programming team at Cannes‘ Directors’ Fortnight where she stayed 10 years (2012-2022). Living between France and Switzerland, she was also responsible for the Masters in Film Studies in Ecal/Head and programmed for Angers Film Festival. She is now programmer for Visions du Réel, Marrakech FF, Ulaanbaatar FF, and also runs an arthouse cinema venue in Lausanne. She is an active member of numerous Swiss cultural management organizations, a film critic for the Swiss Television and produces podcast episodes for Radio France. 

Cédric Succivalli

Cédric Succivalli

Cédric Succivalli is a programmer and film critic. He studied under Positif editor-in-chief Michel Ciment and graduated with a Master’s thesis on My Own Private Idaho by Gus Van Sant and a thesis on David Cronenberg’s Crash at the University of Paris VII. He subsequently taught French and cinema at the University of Bath and UWE Bristol and worked for Arte France Cinéma as part of the film funding committee as a screenplay consultant.

He has served as President of the International Cinephile Society for nineteen years, and during that time he has been regularly attending and writing about festivals around the world. He has served on juries at the Noir In Fest, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Morelia, Göteborg, Cairo, Rome, Lecce, Istanbul, San Sebastián, Thessaloniki, Bilbao and the 2023 Queer Palm at Festival de Cannes. In 2018 he became a programmer for the Giornate degli Autori sidebar section of the Venice Film Festival and in 2023 he also joined the programming team of the Red Sea International Film Festival.  He is the guest curator of the 22nd Ciclo Rosa LGBTI+ Film Festival at the Bogotá Cinemateca.

He is a member of the French Syndicate of Cinema Critics (SFCC), L’Académie des Lumières, FIPRESCI and a Golden Globe Awards international voter.
 

Karel Och

Karel Och

Karel Och (b. 1974 in Czech Republic) studied law and graduated in film theory and history at Prague’s Charles University. Since 2001, he has worked for the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival as a member of the selection committee. He has programmed KVIFF’s documentary competition and curated tributes and retrospectives. In 2010 Och was appointed artistic director of the Karlovy Vary IFF. He is a member of the European Film Academy, and since 2014 Och has been working as a tutor of the Venice Days (Giornate degli Autori) jury at the Venice IFF.

Marie-Pierre Macia

Marie-Pierre Macia

After earning a degree in classics and French literature, Marie-Pierre Macia started her career at the Cinémathèque Française and worked at the San Francisco International Film Festival. She also created “Agora”, the Thessaloniki Film Festival’s industry department. Macia is the former director of Directors’ Fortnight at Cannes, where she championed the first features by now-acclaimed filmmakers such as Carlos Reygadas, Sofia Coppola, Stephen Daldry, Cristi Puiu, and Cristian Mungiu. Among other films, she produced The Turin Horse by Béla Tarr, Zama by Lucrecia Martel, Memory Exercises and Eami by Paz Encina, Mariner of the Mountains by Karim Aïnouz, Xenia and Dodo by Panos H. Koutras, Ghosts by Azra Deniz Okyay, and Rafiki by Wanuri Kahiu. She is currently working on Chocobar, the new documentary by Lucrecia Martel.

Nicolás Celis

Nicolás Celis

Nicolás Celis was born in 1986 in Cuernavaca, Mexico. He is a Mexican producer who has stood out for working on original projects with a high artistic quality and unique vision. He is the founder of Pimienta Films, which is recognized as one of the most important production companies in Mexico and Latin America. His projects have been acclaimed by critics and welcomed by national and international audiences.

Throughout his career, Nicolás has produced more than 30 films. Among them, he has collaborated with renowned directors such as Tatiana Huezo, Elisa Miller, Alfonso Cuarón, Jacques Audiard, Rafi Pitts, Jonás Cuarón and Amat Escalante.

Among his projects is Roma, which received more than 200 awards, including the Golden Lion for Best Film at the Venice Film Festival, four BAFTA Awards, two Golden Globes, and three Academy Awards®. Also, Nicolás produced Tatiana Huezo’s first fiction film, Prayers for the Stolen, which received the award, Un Certain Regard, at the Cannes Film Festival, and was shortlisted to represent Mexico in the Academy Awards®.

Nicolás has served on the jury for International Film Festivals such as Shanghai, Tallinn, Tbilisi, Sofia, and Thessaloniki. In addition, he is a member of the Mexican and American Academies of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

Rosalie Varda

Rosalie Varda

Since 2008, Rosalie has been running the family company, Ciné-Tamaris, which distributes the films of Agnès Varda and Jacques Demy.

In her previous career as a costume designer, she worked notably with Samuel Fuller, Jean-Luc Godard, Agnès Varda, Jacques Demy and Mathieu Demy. For the theatre and the opera, she worked with Yves Robert, Bruno Bayen, Alain Françon, Jean Claude Auvray, Robert Fortune, Karine Saporta and Antoine Bourseiller. Over the span of her 25-year career, she designed costumes for more than thirty operas and some ten feature films.

She collaborated with the Cannes Film Festival from 2001 to 2019.

She was the artistic director for the 2013 exhibition “The Enchanted World of Jacques Demy” at the Cinémathèque Française, and the Viva Varda! exhibition in October 2023. Since 2006, she has been involved in all Agnès Varda’s art projects and exhibitions. She currently oversees Varda’s photo archives.

She produced the film Faces Places (co-directed by Agnès Varda and the artist JR), which screened out of competition at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival and was nominated for Best Documentary at both the César and the Oscars. She also produced Agnès Varda’s final film, Varda by Agnes, shown at the Berlinale in February 2019, and in 2024 Tehachapi directed by the artist JR.

Along with her work at Ciné-Tamaris, she is a senior advisor to MK2 Films, helping to promote heritage films and attract new cinephiles.

AWARDS

  • The José María Riba Award bestowed by Cinépolis Distribución and Profest 2024 consists in a cash incentive of $250,000 MXN ($150,000 contributed by Cinépolis Distribución and $100,000 by Profest 2024) destined to post-production services and/or promotion. This incentive will be awarded to one selected project by the international experts’ panel. The amount offered by Cinépolis Distribución will be delivered no later than June 2025.
  • Estudios Churubusco Azteca will award one project with $1,000,000 MXN in post-production and TXH sound services. A co-production or collaboration agreement will be signed with the production of the project. The support does not include materials, operator fees or Dolby license. It is valid for two years and will be awarded by the international experts’ panel.
  • The post-production studio Splendor Omnia will give an award consisting in one week of sound mix and another one of color correction, with an approximated value of $337,000 MXN. The support does not include technician’s fees or accommodation expenses that will be defined at the time, under a special rate scheme. It is valid for two years and will be awarded by Splendor Omnia. It can be awarded entirely to a single project or assign color correction to one proposal and sound mixing to another.
  • Caffeine Post will award image post-production services with a total value of $387,000 pesos. The support includes sessions for post-production workflow design created by a specialized supervisor, a voucher of $120,000 MXN to be used in the VFX category, and a voucher of $100,000 MXN to be used in Graphics. The award is valid for two years and includes materials and technician’s fees. It may be awarded in its entirety to a single film or distributed among several projects.
  • The José María Riba Award winner will also receive from the specialized information web portal LatAm cinema.com a promotional campaign, which includes an advertising page in one of the magazine’s numbers, as well as a communication strategies counseling with an approximate value of USD$1,500. 

Impulso Morelia 10 will be held from October 21st trough 23rd. Winners will be announced during the closing ceremony of the 22nd FICM.
