In the packed Cinépolis Plaza Morelia, hundreds of people were there to see or have their pictures taken with actors, directors and other celebrities who were present. Among the well-known personalities of the film world who attended were Diana Bracho, Eugenio Derbéz, José María de Tavira, Stephanie Sigman, Arcelia Ramírez, Martin Altomaro, Julio Bracho, Tessa Ia, the directors Amat Escalante and Carlos Reygadas, among others. The most exciting moment was when Alfonso Cuarón, director of the opening film, arrived. He expressed his his enthusiasm and happiness to be “at a festival like that of Morelia, which is a festival for the public, for the people, and of course, while there is a filmic and academic element here, it is not in conflict with the other [part], and I’m delighted because this is how cinema should be.” We present a gallery of images from the 11th FICM’s opening red carpet.
