Gary Meyer Presents THE ART OF EATING: THE LIFE OF M.F.K. FISHER

The American gastronomic writer M.F.K. Fisher transformed the perspective of cooking, traditionally understood as a domestic chore, into a critical study of life itself, which achieved a re-evaluation of feminity. The Art of Eating: The Life of M.F.K. Fisher (2022) is a documentary that reviews her life and impact.

It was written and directed by Gregory Bezat and previously presented at the Mill Valley Film Festival (2022) and the Indie Memphis Film Festival (2022). Now it is part of the 21st Morelia International Film Festival (FICM).

During the presentation of the documentary, producer Gary Meyer answered questions from the audience. He revealed that, at a very young age, he had an approach to Fisher's works, specifically How to Cook a Wolf. He joked: "It disenchanted me because I thought it would be about werewolves."

Meyer also spoke about the disconnection between contemporary society and cooking: “I think the shows where we see people cooking make us think ‘I can't do it,’ but I also see a tendency in people to look for food straight from the field and cook more healthily.”

Finally, he said he loves the festival so much that he has come as a spectator and diner to enjoy the mole.
