FICM Winners at Celebrate México Now

The cultural festival showcases works of various disciplines, including film, music, literature and visual arts in multi-media platforms.

The short films that will be exhibited are: Ponkina by Beatriz Herrera, Best Animated Short Film; La mina de oro by Jacques Bonnavent, Best Fiction Short Film; Carne que recuerda by Dalia Huerta, Best Documentary Short Film; and Busco empleo by Francisco Valle, Special Mention Mexican Short Film.

Celebrate Mexico Now, annual festival of contemporary Mexican art and culture, will run through Oct. 1, 2011, at different venues in New York.

The festival will also host a concert by the rock group Botellita de Jérez, a culinary demonstration called The History and Traditions of Mexican cuisine and Made in Mexico, a multidisciplinary reflection created and directed by Miguel Vaylon about contemporary Mexican issues -- the economic crisis, the war against drugs, the increase in kidnappings and the swine flu -- seen through theater, dance, video and music.
