FICM screens Home

In the film, photographer Arthus-Bertrand, known for his famed work La tierra vista desde el cielo, tries to get people to reflect on the super exploitation of the earth and the terrible consequences it has on the environment.

The film premiered throughout the world on June 5, 2009, World Environment Day, in theaters, DVD and free on TV and the Internet.

Eduardo Araiza, general director of Puma in Mexico, said last Sunday, when it was exhibited at the festival, it was the first time the film had been shown at a theater in Mexico.

PPR, Puma, company of François- Henri Pinault, financed the film. "All of our employees have donated a part of our salary to make this film which is a non-profit [production] and is available to everyone."

Araiza added in an interview that the way the film will become known is by promoting it principally in schools. "We want to take it to schools and with the help of Cinépolis have it tour throughout Mexico."

The executive said FICM is the only film festival where the documentary will be shown.
