Fanny para siempre: portrait of a diva

Colombian producer and director Daniel Mikey, the actress’s son, said the documentary, screened on Monday at the 8th Morelia International Film Festival, took 15 years to make. But the most difficult part was the edition because the protagonist had passed away.

“During those 15 years, we were following her passion, her work, her achievements in support of the theater in Colombia. This documentary was made with her approval and the most difficult part was the edition, since we had to take up the images again seven months after her death in 2008 in order to finish the work,” Daniel Mikey said.

He mentioned that the edition was a kind of exorcism for him. “It helped me understand a little about life and death,” he said.

Fanny para siempre presents an Argentine woman, naturalized Colombian citizen, who was able to carry out great artistic projects despite multiple adversities in a country besieged by armed conflict.

Fanny Mikey was an actress, theater entrepreneur, cultural advocate and  director of the Festival Iberoamericano de Teatro de Bogotá.

During the screening of the documentary, Daniel Mikey was accompanied by Gustavo Gordillo and Darío Silva, who collaborated in the area of sound and photography, respectively.
