En el cielo como en la tierra (In Heaven as on Earth) tells the story of Manuel y Octavio, two youngsters who have been abandoned by their mothers and must survive in a hostile world. Gustavo Gamu’s film follows the trials and tribulations of Reinaldo Cruz Anselmo, a shoe-shiner, and José Alfredo Jiménez, a taxi cab driver, as they attempt to change their lives, attain their dreams, and form an amateur rodeo team lead by ¨El Bandido¨. Every year, The International Critics’ Week at Cannes, in association with the Morelia Film Fest, presents two winning shorts from the FICM’s previous edition. The FICM will in turn showcase a selection from this year’s Cannes Film Festival in October.
