Winning Shorts from Morelia International Film Festival will be shown at Cannes 22.05.07

Translated by Paulina Suárez
Natalia López’s En el cielo como en la tierra (Best Experimental Short Film), and Gustavo Gamou’s La Palomilla Salvaje (Best Documentary) will screen tonight at The Miramar Theater as part of the International Critics’ Week at Cannes 2007.

En el cielo como en la tierra (In Heaven as on Earth) tells the story of Manuel y Octavio, two youngsters who have been abandoned by their mothers and must survive in a hostile world.

Gustavo Gamu’s film follows the trials and tribulations of Reinaldo Cruz Anselmo, a shoe-shiner, and José Alfredo Jiménez, a taxi cab driver, as they attempt to change their lives, attain their dreams, and form an amateur rodeo team lead by ¨El Bandido¨.

Every year, The International Critics’ Week at Cannes, in association with the Morelia Film Fest, presents two winning shorts from the FICM’s previous edition.

The FICM will in turn showcase a selection from this year’s Cannes Film Festival in October.
