Nicolas Philibert presents Mexico premiere of La maison de la radio

French director Nicolas Philibert presented his documentary La maison de la radio at FICM 2013. It deals with 24 hours in the life of Radio France, relating the experiences of its producers, broadcasters and journalists.

In a question-and-answer session, Philibert said he liked listening to the radio, a medium that taught him the value of hearing and surprised him each time a voice of an unknown person would come out of the device.

In La maison de la radio, Nicolas Philibert manages to convert radio and cinema into one medium. However, the director also said that the historic personalities of Radio France had “a certain sense of humor, some were attractive in front of the camera. The sequence of a film is not the same as that of a radio program.”

The director, who also made Être et avoir and Retour en Normandie, said that the purpose of La maison de la radio was to create a version of the radio with images: “For a long time I went to the radio station to present my earlier films. I was surprised that a means of communication like the radio was ‘invisible.’ Radio is mystery.”

Nicolas Philibert will also be present at the screening of La maison de la radio on Wednesday, October 23, from 7:15 pm to 9:30 pm at the Cinépolis Centro Sala 3. Don’t miss the opportunity to see him in person!
