Erwin Neumaier

Erwin Neumaier (Mexico City, 1963) graduated from the Center for Film Training (CCC) with the short film Amor conservador. His debut feature-length film, Un hilito de sangre (A Trickle of Blood) is based on the eponymous novel by Eu- sebio Ruvalcaba. He produced and directed his second feature, El ídolo (The Idol). He was the executive producer of the feature-length film Lolo and of La cuarta compañía (The 4th Company). He produced, co-directed, and edited the short film Fosfenos, which received an Ariel nomination for Best Animated Short; he also produced the feature films Fibra óptica and Sin ton ni Sonia, as well as the medium-length film Yo, Álvaro: El fantasma de la Bombilla. He directed and produced the documentary Mathias Goeritz: El conjuro de la luz for the Museo Amparo and a documentary on Eduardo Terrazas for the FINI Hidalgo. He was the director and line producer of the documentary Observadores del cielo en el México antiguo for TV UNAM; the line producer for the program Ushuaïa Nature, about Naica, and Naica 2, for National Geographic; and the post-producer of Naica, viaje a la cueva de los cristales. He has directed, produced, and edited music videos for Latin American performers. He produced a documentary series for Mexico’s Secretariat of Culture; with the National Institute of Fine Arts, he produced the baroque opera Pygmalion. He was the technical director of the Puerto Vallarta Film Festival and the director of the Production Center for News and Special Programs (CEPROPIE). He currently serves as general director of Estudios Churubusco Azteca.
