Alejandro Ramírez, FICM’s president, Daniela Michel, FICM’s director, Camila Sodi, Arcelia Ramírez, Jean Christophe Berjon and her daughter Emilia also went. The movie theater was packed. The movie’s director and his starring crew remained after the show in order to answer questions from the awaiting spectators. [imagen]One question was about the movie’s name, Gael García said “it started as the name of some work and then later on it ended up as the movie’s name. It is also related to love deficit, to the characters identity, they are like orphans, their parents are missing.” Tenoch Huerta, one of the actors, who plays the role of the main character’s family gardener said: “Deficit portrays Mexican society divided by money, prejudice and racism. In this movie, like in today’s world, there is a lack of communication, there in no interest whatsoever about different social classes meeting up. We all live separated, with racism, and class division at all levels. The poor ones blame and reject the rich ones for many issues; and the rich ones don’t accept the poor ones into their circles. This movie shows all this, we aren’t proposing a solution; we are a mirror of this reality. I believe that we should all ask ourselves about the kind of society we want to live in, and the kind of country we want to live in.” This deep reflection was welcomed by the audience’s applauds, who wouldn’t stop congratulating the cast. Stephen Frears was an honored guest at this show and he said: “it is an excellent movie, even though I couldn’t understand what they were saying,” Gael Garcia Bernal, full of emotion and really loud, said to him: “Thank Youuuu!” [imagen]José Angel García, Gael’s dad mentioned… José Angel García, actor and theater and movie director, talked about his son’s work:“the artist always feels the need to say a lot of things in his first film, this happens with any first creation of any artist. It is very common that the artist while creating his first “art”, gets his ideas all tangled up and does his art in a hurry. This isn’t the case with this film, the story is precise, is told in a good pace, the script is clear, non-complicated, you don’t have to watch it twice to understand it, you watch it twice in order to enjoy yourself one more time. This story is told very well, it doesn’t seem like a first film, it seems like a film of an experienced creator.”
