When asked what were the chances that women directors could reach the status of Iñarritu, Del Toro, or Cuarón, Suarez replied: “I don’t think anything is easy; I know for a fact that Inárritu has worked really hard to get where he is; one has to be disciplined, but I’ve already told El Negro (Iñarritu) that I’m going to be the first one to get an Oscar.” The filmmaker also said that one of the biggest challenges was directing the actors: “There were actresses like Ana de la Reguera or Gabriela Platas who had never in their lives done coke.” Ana de la Reguera said that, when she first read the script, her first impulse was to accept the part: “I never questioned my character, not even the nude scenes. It’s precisely that first sequence that introduces Lucia, my character, to the audience exactly the way she is. The only thing I told Tere is to do everything in her power to make me look really hot on the screen.” The actress, who’s nude scenes show a suggestive tattoo, said: “It’s not real, but I really liked wearing it because it lasted about a week, so I would take advantage of this and use really low cut pants. It didn’t go unnoticed; it caused a sensation.” Venezuelan actor Rafael Amaya was also at the press conference. He admitted that it had been really hard for him to hide his accent for his role on the film. Ana Cioccheti, who plays the part of Sandra, a woman who falls in love with a young girl, said: “It’s not a moralistic film, it just reminds us that all human beings have been close to falling down a precipice, and of the importance of avoiding this fall. But if we’ve hit rock bottom, we have to jump, keep our balance, and fight the fall.”
