Daniela Michel, director of FICM, thanked the audience and stated she was a dog lover and that the goal of the screening was to educate people about animal rights. Four silent movies as well as two documentaries – all with a dog as the main character – were screened. Elizabeth Viveros, who works at the Asociación Michoacana Amigos de los Animales (AMICHA), thanked FICM for the opportunity to be in festival. She said that her organization works to help homeless domestic animals by rescuing them from abuse, healing them and finding them a new home. One of the things they have accomplished is replacing the electroshock method of euthanizing dogs to a more humane one in which they don´t suffer a painful death. The presentation was very moving. Deborah Silberer interpreted the music for the films: A Dog´s Life, by Charles Chaplin; Angora Love, by Lewis R. Foster interpreted by Oliver Hardy and Stanley Laurel; The Lucky Dog, by Jess Robbins and Rescued by Rover, by Lewin Fitzhamon. The documentary filmed in 2007, 5 razones para comerte a tu perro, was also in the program. The revenue from this screening was donated to AMICHA. Translated by Lorena Villa Parkman
