FICM creates Online Mexican Short Film Selection

Considering the importance of digital platforms in the public’s relationship with film, FICM has created the Online Mexican Short Film Selection. For the first time in the history of FICM, a number of short films from the Official Selection will be available online free of charge during the week of the festival.

FICM’s Online Mexican Short Film Selection opens a new window for talents in our country and thus expands the scope of the festival. Thanks to this initiative and the strength that FICM has acquired in social networks (with nearly 600,000 followers in total), the festival will bring quality Mexican short films to audiences around the world, free of charge.

What works can participate?

To participate in the Online Mexican Short Film Selection, interested directors must give their consent in the registration system.

All of the works selected in the Michoacan Section, the Mexican Short Film Section and the Mexican Documentary Section, with a maximum duration of 15 minutes, will be part of the Online Mexican Short Film Selection as long as the director authorizes it when registering his/her film for the festival. That is, the short films selected for the official competition can participate in the Online Mexican Short Film Selection at the same time.

The titles of the Online Mexican Short Film Selection will be published on August 8, along with the rest of the results of the Call for Entries.

Where will the works be shown and how will they be awarded?

The works of the Online Mexican Short Film Selection will be available on FICM’s website and its YouTube channel during the week of the festival, and they will compete for the Online Award for Best Short Film.

The public can vote for their favorite short films through FICM’s official website. The short film that receives the most votes will receive the Online Award for Best Short Film, which consists of a diploma and $50,000 pesos in cash and a distribution award for one year.

In addition, the winner of the Online Award for Best Short Film will be part of the program of winners of the 12th in the Best of FICM in the DF, as well as in functions throughout the country after the festival.
