The Morelia International Film Festival announces the 2016 Berlinale Spotlight program

As part of the celebrations of the Dual Year of Mexico-Germany 2016, the Morelia International Film Festival (FICM) is honored to present Berlinale Spotlight 2016, a splendid selection of films from one of the indispensable cinematographic events of our time: the Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale).

Berlinale Spotlight 2016 is a special program dedicated entirely to the Berlinale and it arrives at Morelia to enrich our lineup. We would like to give special thanks to Dieter Kosslick, Director of the Berlinale, and to his great team. We are also very grateful to the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs for their invaluable support and to the Goethe-Institut‎ for their help in the organization and realization of this great event.

This program is an extraordinary overview of the different sections that compose the Berlinale: Competition, Panorama, Forum, Generation, Perspektive Deutsches Kino, Berlinale Shorts and Retrospective; with feature-length fiction films, documentaries and short films that include the winners of the Golden Bear and of the Teddy Award 2016. The program also comprises a retrospective dedicated to the director, screenwriter, actor and producer Reinhold Schünzel, one of the most popular German filmmakers from the first half of the 20th century.

The Morelia International Film Festival will also count with the presence of the director and actor Sebastian Schipper, who gained international recognition for his fourth feature film Victoria (2015), winner of the Silver Bear for Outstanding Artistic Contribution at the Berlinale; Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Cinematography and Best Music at the German Film Awards (Deutscher Filmpreis); and presented at a number of festivals, including the 2015 FICM.
