The 15th FICM will screen a program from the Curaçao International Film Festival Rotterdam

Thanks to the alliance between the Morelia International Film Festival (FICM) and the Curaçao International Film Festival Rotterdam (CIFFR), a program dedicated to the Curaçao festival will be screened at the fifteenth edition of FICM.

The Watchman, winner of the Yellow Robin Award in 2017, CIFFR's top prize, will be one of three films that make up the program. Dominican director Alejandro Andújar will attend the 15th FICM to present his film.

The film tells the story of John, the laughingstock of a fishing village since his wife was unfaithful and became pregnant. Now he takes care of the mansion of a wealthy family and does not want to leave to avoid running into his wife. But one afternoon, the owner's son, a foreign friend and a girl from the village they just met show up without permission. The situation is out of control and Juan is forced to make decisions that will affect the rest of his life.

The CIFFR was created by the Fundashon Bon Intenshon in collaboration with the Rotterdam International Film Festival to support new filmmakers from the Caribbean and surrounding regions. She Doesn't Want to Sleep Alone, by Natalia Beristáin (Best Mexican Feature Film FICM 2012) obtained the Yellow Robin Award in the first edition.

Double Play (2017) by Ernest Dickerson is also part of the CIFFR program. The film is a portrait of Curaçao society through the seemingly innocent dominoes that four men play every Sunday... until they take an unexpected turn: there are dangerous secrets, women who make radical decisions and a child who sees everything.

Lastly, the short film E Yobida di Ayera (2016), by Armand Simon, complements the program of the Curaçao International Film Festival Rotterdam in FICM.
