Dinorath Ramírez and Cristián Calónico Presented the Second Program Dedicated to Female Filmmakers and 50 Years of CCC

In the company of Cristián Calónico, director of Estudios Churubusco Azteca, Dinorath Ramírez, director of the Film Training Center, presented the second program in the series "50 Years of the Film Training Center. The Pioneers: The First Female Filmmakers of the CCC."

This time, four short films made between 1985 and 1992 were screened: Objetos perdidos (1992) by Eva López Sánchez; La neta no hay futuro (1988) by Andrea Gentile; La venganza (1989) by Eva López Sánchez; and Elvira Luz Cruz, pena máxima (1985) by Dana Rotberg and Ana Díez Díaz.

Cristian Calónico said that Estudios Churubusco collaborated in the digitization of the short films included in this series and announced that they are working to provide restoration services soon.

Dinorath Ramírez told the audience that this was the first time these shorts would be presented in their digital version.

“These are the first shorts by the first female filmmakers to graduate from the CCC at a time when cinema was dominated by men [...] training female filmmakers has given this country enormous privilege and social standing,” she emphasized.

“This program allows us to revisit our collective memory, our historical memory, to see the Mexico of that time, and to see how we are shaping ourselves artistically,” added the CCC graduate.

Regarding FICM, she said, “Morelia has enormous young talent. I am grateful for the boost it gives this talent because it helps to continue cultivating future creatives.”
