The film was presented by Fernando de Fuentes, the director's grandson and Hugo Villa Smythe, General Director of Cinematographic Activities at UNAM. Also present were Dr. Alejandro Pelayo, Director of the National Film Archive, and Daniela Michel, founder and General Director of the festival. Alejandro Pelayo Fernando de Fuentes took the opportunity to thank the UNAM Film Archive and the National Film Archive for the work they do in caring for, restoring and distributing films that form a fundamental part of the country's film history. "Allá en el rancho grande is an emblematic film, the first of a genre that later became, perhaps, the most fruitful genre in economic terms and also in terms of work in the following ten or fifteen years of Mexican cinema: the ranchera comedy," added Villa Smythe before the screening. Fernando de Fuentes The film follows the strong bond of friendship between the landowner Felipe and his foreman José Francisco when the love of a woman gets in the way and jeopardizes their relationship. The conflict between the two friends is resolved little by little amidst couplets, dances and songs.
