Gallardo Actor Diego Calva presented his new film Club Kid at the 24th Morelia International Film Festival (FICM), and he did so by going off-script and calling director Jordan Firstman, who was promoting the film in London. From the moment he arrived on the red carpet at the Mariano Matamoros Theater, the Mexican actor (Te prometo anarquía, Babylon, Indomables, Bird Box Barcelona…) was cheered by an audience that had been waiting for him since early in the morning. He gradually obliged requests for autographs and photos. Diego Calva Inside, FICM founder and director Daniela Michel acknowledged the actor's work, describing him as a “very prominent figure who has already worked on a great many films.”“This is my sixth time at the festival,” Calva said, noting that he had attended many times as a member of the audience before ever appearing there as an actor. Then he stepped forward and made a video call with Jordan Firstman, showing him an audience that didn't hesitate to applaud him. The director thanked the crowd for their reception of the film and praised Calva’s performance.“He’s a director with a very interesting ability: to be naturally funny. He has an impressive command of comedy and a deep humanity: this film makes you cry, it makes you laugh, and there’s nothing smarter than putting a comedian in a dramatic role,” the actor said.Club Kid is Jordan Firstman's directorial debut. The film follows Peter, a New York party promoter whose drug-fueled, excess-filled nightlife hides a heavy dependence on narcotics. His provocative persona mirrors the very traits that have made Firstman a figure as widely admired as he is controversial.
