While Día de Muertos is celebrated in all of Mexico, Michoacan is especially known for its celebrations commemorating the dearly departed. Each region remembers its dead with different rituals that originated in pre-Hispanic times. On November 1 and 2, wakes in the cemeteries are among the main attractions of the Day of the Dead in Michoacan; these are complemented by artistic and religious events in Morelia, Patzcuaro, and Uruapan, among others. Autovías also offers a direct route to Lázaro Cárdenas, Michoacan, allowing you to easily explore the paradisiacal beaches of the region.
