With the purpose of supporting the education and professionalization of young filmmakers and the clear compromise to generate discussion, reflection and participation in the domain of our country´s film production, the Morelia International Film Festival, the Mexican Film Institute (IMCINE), and the Mexican Writers Guild (SOGEM), in collaboration with the Three Continents Film Festival/Produire au Sud (Nantes, France), the Latin American Regional Office of the Motion Picture Association (MPA, United States), the French Embassy in Mexico, the US Embassy in Mexico, Cinépolis, the Government of Michoacán, the Morelia City Council, the Institute for Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts (ICAA, Spain), the National Film and Audiovisual Arts Institute (INCAA, Argentina), the Secretariat of Audiovisual Affairs (Brazil), the Film Training Center (CCC), the University Center of Film Studies, the Film Unit of Guadalajara University, Simplemente and Kodak Mexico invite you to participate in: The Production workshop-seminary for young Mexican film producers

Production workshop/seminar for young Mexican film producers

October 1st- 15th, 2005

Mexico City and Morelia, Michoacán

PRODUCTION TODAY: MEXICO AND LATIN AMERICA (will take place in Mexico City)
Film experts and government officials from four countries will talk about audiovisual and production policies as well as analyzing the budgets of four films used as case studies. Legal, accounting, labor union and strategy issues, as well as sales and distribution basics, will be part of the program.

Moderated by: Víctor Ugalde and Carlos Taibo

INDEPENDENT FILM PRODUCTION IN THE UNITED STATES (will take place in México City)

Experts will present a view of independent film production in the US. Sponsored by the Motion Picture Association of America.

Moderated by Steve Solot.
PRODUIRE AU SUD, LEARNING THE SKILLS OF CO-PRODUCING WITH EUROPE (will take place in Moreila, Michoacán)

Produire au Sud is part of the prestigious workshop for young producers which the Nantes Three Continent Festival (Asia, Africa, and Latin America) organizes each year in France.

Moderated by Elise Jalladeau
Eleven days and nearly 120 hours of conferences given by a select group of industry professionals from Mexico, France, the United States, Argentina, Spain and Brazil.
Two prizes of 50,000 pesos each will be given to the winners of the Morelia LAB Young Producers Contest, to encourage the development of their own projects. This prize is sponsored by Cinépolis and IMCINE
