Romanian Films at the Cineteca Nacional

Romanian director Cristian Mungiu, winner of the 2007 Palme d'Or at Cannes for his film 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days, organized the festival's comprehensive program of Romanian films.

Romania is the first guest country the Morelia International Film Festival has ever invited, a proposal made by Mungiu who screened his acclaimed film at FICM 2007 and was a judge at the 6th edition of the festival.

The program includes the feature films The Independence of Romania by Grigore Brezeanu and Aristide Demetriade; Reenactment by Lucian, Pintilie; Don´t Lean Out the Window by Nae Caranfil;  Stuff and Dough and The Death of Mr. Lazarescu, both by Cristi Puiu; California Dreamin´ by Cristian Nemescu; The Paper Will Be Blue by Radu Muntean and 12:08 East of Bucharest by Corneliu Porumboiu.

The documentaries Children of the Decree by Florin Iepan, The Flower Bridge by Thomas Ciulei and Great Communist Bank Robbery by Alexandru Solomon will also be shown. In addition, there will be a screening of short films, including Humanitarian Aid by Hanno Höfer, Traffic by Catalin Mitulescu, A Lineman' s Cabin by Constantine Popescu and Networking Friday by Melissa de Raaf and Razvan Radulescu.
