Cine para todxs 2023: The Inheritors by Eugenio Polgovsky

The Morelia International Film Festival (FICM) presents Cine para todxs 2023, a program that will screen Mexican, contemporary and classic films, which have had a significant impact on the history of national cinema, in community spaces.

All the works screened in this program have been made by filmmakers who have been part of past editions of the FICM, such is the case of The Inheritors (2008) by Eugenio Polgovsky.

This edition of the program, which will take place from July 31 to October 8, 2023, has the valuable support of the Instituto Mexicano de Cinematografía (IMCINE) through the Fomento al Cine Mexicano (FOCINE) program.

The Inheritors (2008) is about the lives of children in the Mexican countryside and their daily struggle to survive. The documentary explores how their realities mirror those of their ancestors, and reflects on how, generation after generation, they remain trapped in a perpetual cycle of poverty.

The film was screened at the 6th Morelia International Film Festival. In 2009, he had an outstanding participation in international award ceremonies. He won the Best Documentary Award at the Lima Film Festival, the Joris Ivens Award at the Cinéma du Réel Festival and a Honorable Mention at the Miami Film Festival.
