Cindy la regia, by Catalina Aguilar Mastretta, premiered at the 17th FICM

As part of the national premieres of the 17th Morelia International Film Festival (FICM) there was a special screening of the film Cindy la regia, presented by director Catalina Aguilar Mastretta, in the company of Daniela Michel, founder and general director of the Festival; the cast and team production of the film were also present.

“This is a very special film that we have the honor of presenting tonight, with a great team and cast,” commented Daniela Michel in gratitude for the opportunity to release it in the context of the festival.

Director Catalina Mastretta showed gratitude to the FICM for the space within its programming and commented that the need to address this character was to give it more dimension: “We wanted to take Cindy out of the comic to make her a vulnerable, flesh and bone character.”

On the origin of the project, producer Francisco González said that he saw the character being born from social media: “It was on my horizon from Twitter, then the comic, and from there the idea came up; little by little people added up.”

The feature film resumes Cindy’s life, a “nice” girl from San Pedro Garza García, a municipality in Monterrey, who calls her boyfriend a “catch” yet she does not want to marry him and she flees to Mexico City, where new friendships and unexpected paths teach her that there is so much more to the possibilities of her life.
