French Ambassador to Mexico Daniel Parfait and Nouredine Essadi, the visual attaché for the French Embassy in Mexico were also at the event. Barratier, director of the award winning film set in 1949 Les Choristes, said that in Paris 36, without being a historical film tackles an important moment from 1936: “For the first time the government offered its employees two weeks of vacation. Actually, today when someone talks about 36 we always think of those two weeks of vacation, although I should make clear that this is not the central axis of my film. It is a sentimental comedy, with music and melodrama, a story of human characters, of brotherhood and solidarity. I am very proud to be here in this marvelous festival. It is a pleasure, and it can be said this is very nearly a world premiere, as it just opened in Paris a few days ago.”
