Celina Murga Presents EL AROMA DEL PASTO RECIÉN CORTADO at the 22nd FICM

Argentine director Celina Murga presented her film El aroma del pasto recién cortado at the 22nd edition of the Morelia International Film Festival (FICM). She was joined by Marina de Tavira, star of the film; Daniela Michel, founder and general director of the festival; and producers Valeria Bistagnino and Tomás Eloy Muñoz.

Marina de Tavira arrived at the screening accompanied by Yalitza Aparicio (Roma, 2018) and was emotional during the presentation, emphasizing her gratitude to her fellow filmmakers and to the festival.

El aroma del pasto recién cortado tells the story of Pablo, a married university professor with two children, who begins a secret affair with a student, without imagining the consequences. At the same time, Natalia, a married university professor with two daughters, begins a secret affair with a student. Two stories that intertwine and mirror each other: one starring a man and the other a woman.

The film won the award for Best Screenplay at the Tribeca Film Festival and is a co-production between five countries: Argentina, the United States, Mexico, Uruguay, and Germany. The director also highlighted that Martin Scorsese, with whom she has maintained a working relationship since 2008, is an executive producer. “My relationship with Scorsese was born thanks to the Rolex Mentorship Program grant. It is a bond that has kept growing; he has been the executive producer of my last two films, this one and La tercera orilla (2014),” she added.

Marina de Tavira and Celina Murga said they established a great relationship during the making of the film. “I found in Marina a spectacular creative partner. She read the script, we had the first meeting and I was very surprised by everything she managed to see in it, because it was exactly what I wanted to tell,” said the director.
