Channel 22 screens winning independent shorts

The goal of this program, which has been promoted by the TV channel for the past four years, is to stimulate the production of short films and documentaries in Mexico.

Biósfera and Nando en la Luna, both short animated films, and Jefes del rock, a feature-length documentary film, were screened.

The animated short film Biósfera by Luis Ramírez is a story about a topic that worries everyone in Mexico and the world: the tragedies that occur on Earth due to the lack of water. Fantasy and reality intermingle in this film in which what we see on screen is not necessarily what it seems. Everything ends up being a metaphor of something else.

Nando en la Luna, by Alheli Ochoa, recalls the dream of a Mexican kid who is suddenly asked to participate in a space program.

The program ended with the screening of the documentary Los jefes del rock by Guillermo Piñon - a musical, political and literary journey through the sixties in México, that includes interviews with Alex Lora, Humberto Mussachio, El Mastuerzo, El Maese and Jorge Batiz, among others.

The filmmakers thanked the endorsement from Canal 22. Luis Ramírez concluded his speech by stating that it is necessary that all people involved in film support each other “so we can raise our voices and you, the public, can hear us.”
