Miss Bala by Gerardo Naranjo, a film that participated in the Official Selection of Un Certain Regard in Cannes 2011 and Bala Mordida by Diego Muñoz Vega are also on the list. In the documentary category, Flowers in the Desert (Flores en el desierto) by José Álvarez, Special Mention in the Mexican Documentary category at FICM 2009 and Seven Moments (Siete instantes) by Diana Cardozo, Official Selection at FICM 2008 are also participating. The election at the AMACC will take place from Sept. 19 to 22. Daniel Martínez, head of the Academy's Information section, said that the selected films will be announced on Sept. 23. AMACC will give AMPAS the film elected to compete for the 84th Oscars Awards on Oct. 3, and AACCE the film elected for the XXVI Goya on Nov. 2. For more information, click here.
