Bruno Dumont's RED ROCKS Arrives at the 24th FICM

Red Rocks, the new film by Bruno Dumont, was presented at the 24th edition of the Morelia International Film Festival (FICM), with the presence of producer Fiorella Moretti, producer Alejandro Sugich and cinematographer Carlos Alfonso Corral.

“It is a very different film—very exuberant, very radiant—and we are delighted to present it at the festival. Ever since Dumont’s first visit, we have always wanted to showcase his work. It is a great pleasure,” said Daniela Michel, director and founder of the FICM.

At Red Rocks, on the French Riviera, two gangs of children compete in their favorite pastime: jumping from the reddish rocks into the Mediterranean. Over the course of one summer, five-year-old Geo discovers a world where friendship intertwines with rivalry, and the first stirrings of romantic feelings give rise to new tensions.

Regarding the film, Sugich noted that it allowed him to reconnect with his own childhood—he grew up watching the works of Dumont—so producing a film by him today is “a dream come true.”

Producer Moretti commented that Red Rocks seems, at first glance, to be a French film because the language is French, but several countries are involved (Portugal, Italy, Spain, Qatar), and she acknowledged Alejandro Sugich for “coming to save the project when we thought we wouldn’t be able to film it”.
