10 · 21 · 19 Arturo Ripstein presented El diablo entre las piernas and unveiled the armchair with his name at the 17th FICM Share with twitter Share with facebook Share with mail Copy to clipboard Celina Manuel As part of the recognitions and national premieres that take place during the 17th Morelia International Film Festival (FICM), the emblematic Mexican filmmaker and special guest Arturo Ripstein unveiled the armchair with his name and presented his most recent film, El Diablo entre las piernas, in the company of Daniela Michel, general director and founder of the Festival; Cuauhtémoc Cárdenas, vice president; Paz Alicia Garciadiego, Sylvia Pasquel and Mónica Lozano, among others. Daniela Michel thanked the Mexican director as well as the screenwriter Paz Alicia for their attendance and for being part of the FICM programming. Ripstein thanked the Festival’s gesture and for giving a space to the film within the program Autores. “It is great to be sitting here, I am really grateful and I take it with great humbleness,” said the director and shared his joy for seeing the audience gathered for the film: “It is very pleasing to see all of you gathered here, I hope you enjoy it.” Arturo Ripstein The film had its international premiere at the Toronto Festival 2019 and tells the story of a man who wanders bored around the house, being jealous of Beatriz, his wife. The fights wear him down and the balance is torn: the woman feels wanted and, especially, desirable. She wants to prove it. That is why one night she leaves the house aimlessly with only one purpose: sex. Her return causes a catastrophe. Dinorah, the maid can’t allow such boldness so she takes sides.
