Impulso Morelia 6 kicked off at the 18th FICM

The sixth edition of Impulso Morelia began, virtually, as a part of the 18th Morelia International Film Festival (FICM). Since 2015, this space has offered a program of Mexican feature films in different phases of editing and post-production in order to generate a constructive dialogue on the proposals and offer them international visibility.

The filmmakers whose works were selected to participate in this industry section of the FICM participated in virtual sessions of dialogue and deliberation with the panel of experts, made up of the renowned production designer Eugenio Caballero; director of the international sales agency Film Factory, Vicente Canales; the prominent Mexican director Jorge Fons and Bertha Navarro, one of the most prominent film producers in Mexico.

The films that participate in Impulso Morelia 6 are: Los amantes se despiden con la mirada, by Rigoberto Perezcano; Cruz, by Teresa Camou Guerrero; Dante y Soledad, by Alexandra de la Mora; Mamá, by Juan Antonio Méndez Rodríguez; Travesías, by Sergio Flores Thorija; and Los vecinos, by Diana Cardozo. Cartas a distancia by Juan Carlos Rulfo will participate out of competition.

The winners of the recognitions granted by the Impulso Morelia 6 panel of experts will be announced on November 1 at the Award Ceremony for the 18th FICM.

In honor of José María Riba

José María Riva

The 18th edition of FICM is dedicated to our dear friend José María Riba. A critic, programmer, teacher and role model, who unfortunately left us this year. José María Riba was a great ally of Mexican cinema, a close friend, a mentor and a main collaborator of FICM, where he created, founded and coordinated Impulso Morelia.
