Ana Maria Marinca opens the Romanian Cycle.

Romania is the invited country at this year's Morelia International Film Festival.

Vulpe said that artists and athletes are the best ambassadors in any country: "Ana María has done so much for our country," she said."I feel we are in competition (laugh), but between my career and hers, she has done a better job than I have. Ana María welcome. She is a friend of Mexico, a friend of the festival. I am honored to be in her company."

Marinca then took the microphone and said to the audience, "Thank you for coming. I know many have seen Four Months, Three Weeks and Two Days. This is the third time that I've been in Mexico. We are very happy to have the Romanian program here and to be the first guest country [at the festival]. We have a very complete program with films from the 60s. I recommend The paper will be blue by Cristian Nemescu."

The actress went on to explain that Boogie "is very different from Four Months, Three Weeks and Two Days. It talks about a family. I play a mother and a daughter. It is a little ironic [that I'm doing this] after my work with Four Months, Three Weeks and Two Days.  In this film I played the part of a woman who wanted to have an abortion."

Marinca said that Boogie is a reflection of our society and of the generation that grew up in a free Romania. "It is intimate and small," she said. "Don't be deceived by the apparent superficiality of the story. I hope you see yourselves reflected in it too."
