Amy Redford presented The Old Man & the Gun, by David Lowery, at the 16th FICM

Daniela Michel, founder and general director of the Morelia International Film Festival (FICM), and Alejandro Ramírez, president of the festival, welcomed the actress and member of the Sundance Council, Amy Redford, who presented the Latin American premiere of the film The Old Man & the Gun (2018, dir. David Lowery) in a special screening, starring her father, the actor Robert Redford.

Before giving the floor to the guest of honor, Alejandro Ramírez praised the work of Robert Redford as an impeller of emerging talents: "He is a great protagonist and promoter of independent cinema, not only in the United States. He's a man who has had a tireless spirit in supporting independent artists and filmmakers... Robert's spirit goes beyond what we see in the movies and for us, it is an honor that Amy is here to present the film."

After the presentation, Amy Redford gave a brief speech in which she thanked the festival for everything she has learned in Mexico and remarked the virtue that exists in strengthening the ties between Sundance and FICM, as her father taught her: "I am surprised by the majesty and beauty, not only of the city but of the people, at the Sundance Institute we have witnessed what the country has given us, this festival celebrates the new combined with the old and the hope is present among our people. Our alliance began years ago with a phrase my parents used to say: 'We need to strengthen friendship ties' and this alliance has resisted any cultural and political change."

In closing, Amy lamented her father's absence during the special screening and suggested that the story is worth it until the last minute, being the film that signals her father's retirement from the world of acting: "My father regrets not being with you and wanted to send a message of thanks to Alejandro and the festival for screening this film and thereby marking another chapter in his life. It is a chapter that closes but it is also a new beginning. I love this movie. It'll captivate you until the last moment. I hope you enjoy it."

The Old Man & the Gun is based on Forrest Tucker's bold escape from the San Quentin prison at the age of 70, and a series of unprecedented robberies that confused the authorities and captivated the public.
