According to the jury, Alamar was awarded the prize for best international feature “for its ability to tell a story about a family in a natural and sensitive way, within the framework of a natural setting that both complements and enriches it.”
The Mexican film, which is about Natan who embarks on a journey to the open sea with his father (a man with Maya roots), has also received numerous prizes, including the Tiger Award in Rotterdam.
