Alamar wins VPRO Tiger Award

According to the jury, Alamar is a film which "touches deeply without being too sentimental." This story of a father and son who go on a journey to the source of the open sea to find their old way of life is "true and honest to its subject and shows both the good fortune and tragedy of being a child with divorced parents."

This year 15 filmmakers with first or second feature films competed for the 15,000 Euro VPRO Tiger Award. The jury consisted of directors Amat Escalante and Urszula Antoniak, the actress Jeanne Balibar, the ex-director of the Singapore Film Festival Philip Chea, and the actor, musician, screenwriter, and activist from Uganda Okello Kelo Sam.
