Abel wins at San Sebastián

Horizontes Latinos, of the 58th San Sebastián Donostia Zinemaldía Festival, showcases the best films from Latin America produced during the past 12 months. On this occasion, 11 films participated, including the Chilean-Mexican Post Mortem by Pablo Larraín and the Argentine Rompecabezas (Puzzle) by Natalia Smirnoff.

A jury made up of 350 young people between the ages of 17 and 21 selects the winning film to receive the Euskaltel Youth Award.

The film, starring José María Yazpik, Karina Gidi with Gerardo and Christopher Ruiz Esparza (who received the Best Actor award at Latin Beat in Tokyo) tells the story of a boy who, in the absence of his father, decides to create an alternative reality and become the paternal figure of the family.

The 58th San Sebastián International Film Festival took place from Sept. 17 to 25 of this year.
