Tótem (2023), Dir. Lila Avilés El segundo largometraje de la actriz y directora Lila Avilés, relata la historia de Sol, una niña de siete años que pasa el día en casa de su abuelo ayudando con los preparativos de una fiesta sorpresa para su padre. Poco a poco todo comienza a volverse más caótico, fracturando los cimientos familiares. La cinta es protagonizada por Naíma Sentíes, Montserrat Marañón, Marisol Gasé, Saori Gurza, Mateo García Elizondo, Teresita Sánchez, Juan Francisco Maldonado, Iazua Larios y Alberto Amador. Asimismo, algunos de los títulos que formaron parte de la programación del 21er FICM, también lograron nominaciones en distintas categorías, tal es el caso de All of Us Strangers, de Andrew Haigh y May December, de Todd Haynes, las cuales participan en la categoría de Mejor Largometraje y Mejor Director. All of us Strangers, de Andrew Haigh, también compite por el premio a Mejor Película. En la categoría de Mejor Fotografía fue nominadaThe Holdovers, de Alexander Payne; en la categoría de Mejor Primer Guion, Samy Burch fue nominado por su trabajo en May December, Las cuatro hijas, de Kaouther Ben Hania, logró una nominación a Mejor Documental. Por su parte, Jessica Chastain, protagonista de Memory de Michel Franco, fue nominada en la categoría de Mejor Actuación Principal.
