Image Santoyo del Castillo; Gildardo He studied graphic communication design at the Autonomous Metropolitan University (UAM), Xochimilco campus, Mexico, and a course on creativity at the School of Design at the National Institute of Bellas Artes (INBA), Mexico. He has been recognized at the international level as an illustrator and art and animation director in several audiovisuals, commercials, documentaries and broadcasts for production companies and television channels. His first animated short film Olas del cielo (2015) was the winner of the 13th National Competition for Animated Short Film Projects launched by the Mexican Film Institute (IMCINE) and was presented at various national and international film festivals, including the 30th Guadalajara International Film Festival (FICG, in Spanish), Mexico; the 18th Guanajuato International Film Festival (GIFF), Mexico; the 45th Giffoni Film Festival, Italy; and the 11th Monterrey International Film Festival, Mexico. Olas del cielo will be presented at the 59th BFI London Film Festival, Great Britain; the 31st Warsaw Film Festival (WFF), Poland; the 30th Mar del Plata International Film Festival, Argentina; the 17th FILMAR Latin American Film Festival, Switzerland; and was part of the Official Selection of the 13th Morelia International Film Festival (FICM).
