Image Aguilar; Leopoldo Director, producer and screenwriter, he studied a Masters in Films Studies, with a specialization in Screenwriting at the Guadalajara University (U. de G.), Jalisco, Mexico, and another Masters in Film Direction at the Catalan School of Cinema and Audiovisuals, ESCAC in Barcelona, Spain. He has worked in various animated fiction projects and he has received diverse scholarships, from the Mexican Film Institute (IMCINE), from the State Fund for Culture and Arts (FECA) and from the Mexican National Fund for Culture and Arts (FONCA) and the Mexican Council for Science and Technology (CONACYT). He has participated in two editions of the Morelia International Film Festival (FICM), with his medium-length animated film De cómo los niños pueden volar / The Boy Who Flew (2008) at the 6th FICM; and with the medium-length animated film directed by Víctor René Ramírez Madrigal and Arturo Tornero Aceves, Monarca (2011), where he worked as co-screenwriter. He was production manager and co-director of the project Suertes, humores y pequeñas historias de la Revolución y la Independencia (2010), produced by the National Chamber of Electronics, Telecommunications and Information Technology (CANIETI) and IMCINE. His feature length animated film, co-directed with Rodolfo Guzmán, El secreto del medallón de Jade (2012), won two awards granted by the Child Audience: at the 27th Guadalajara International Film Festival (FICG) and at the 27th Mar del Plata International Film Festival, Argentina. He was selected to participate at the 6th Guadalajara Talents program at the 19th FICG, co-organized by the Berlin International Film Festival, Berlinale. He is currently working as the director and screenwriter of El columpio en el cerezo, winner of the Cutout Fest-Ánima Estudios award. He is also directing and producing the short film The Weeping, winner of FONCA’s co-investment program, and he is the director of the animation studio Ánima Estudios.
