Rivero Gutiérrez; María Fernanda

She studied her B.A. in Communication at the Iberoamerican University (UIA) in Mexico City, and a Masters in Cinematographic Projects in the ECAM School in Madrid, Spain. She has worked in diverse projects in film, including production and direction. She is the founder of the Todo por el Cine Foundation, association behind the Festival Internacional Cine en el Campo (FICC) and the production company Cornea Films. Her work has traveled to more than 20 festivals around the world. Her short film La savia vida (Kalan) (2005), part of the Official Selection of the 3rd Morelia International Film Festival (FICM), won the Award for Best Short Film at the International Film Festival of the Third Millennium, in Guadalajara, Mexico. Mientras tú no estás (2006) won the Award for Best Short Film at the International Festival of Film, Culture and Life, Mexico. In 2008, her short film Matilda was part of the Official Selection of the 6th FICM. In 2010, her short film El camino a donde voy was nominated for the 52nd Ariel Awards and it won Second Place at the Indigenous Film and Video Festival in Morelia, Mexico; that same year La aventura de Monocho won the Award for Best Short Film at the Environmental Film Conference in Cancún, Mexico. In 2014 her documentary feature film debut Never give up was selected in various festivals, including the Random Film Festival in Estonia. In 2015 she presented Las aventuras de Itzel y Sonia: En busca de los guardianes del agua, winner of the Cuenca Award for Best Film made in the Cuenca de Balsas, in the festival Cinema Planeta.
