Asdrúbal Andrés; René

He is a professor of Semiotics and Communication, with a specialty in Advertising Discourse and Sensitive Dimension at the Franche Compté University (UFC), in Besançon, France. He is currently attending a PhD program in Information and Communication Sciences at the University of Burgundy, France, where he researches the social function of advertising in Mexico and the representation of the Mexican mestizo in publicity images, under the direction of professor Jean-Jacques Boutaud. He is specialized in critical studies about identity, social labels and practices linked to consumerism and publicity. He has published several essays and articles at the Cambio de Michoacán newspaper and at La Jornada Semanal, Mexico. His work in film and audiovisual projects includes the short fiction film Manuel y Carmen / Manuel and Carmen (2004), selected at the 2nd Morelia International Film Festival (FICM), and the script and direction of the educational radio soap opera Ella es Luz (2005), produced by the State of Michoacán.
