Andrade Pease, Alejandro

He studied communication at the Anáhuac University México Norte (UA), State of Mexico, and cinematography at the CUEC-UNAM film school, Mexico City. He received master’s degrees in direction of audiovisual companies from the Carlos III University of Madrid (UC3M), Spain; and in development of film projects at the School of Cinematography and Audiovisual of the Community of Madrid (ECAM), Spain. He obtained, among other awards and grants, the scholarship of the National Fund for Culture and the Arts (FONCA) for studying abroad during the periods 2003-3004 and 2004-2005; the First Place in the Ford/Walter Thompson National Creativity Competition, Mexico, in 1993; and Third Place in the 8th National Screenwriting Competition for Short Films of the Mexican Film Institute (IMCINE) for his screenplay Esta hermosa cadena (1998). His short fiction film La parada (2009) was considered one of the best short films of 2009 by Spanish journalist, writer and film critic, Antonio Sempere, in his book Cambio y corto (2009). His work has been presented at more than 20 film screenings and festivals around the world. He participated in the 1st Morelia International Film Festival (FICM) with his short fiction film Juego de manos (2002), for which he received the awards for Best Fiction Short Film at the Este Corto Sí Se Ve Festival, in 2004, and Best Project by the General Society of Authors and Writers (SGAE), Madrid, in 2005. His film Madrid: La sombra de un sueño (2007) won the Best Documentary Short Film award at the 2nd International Short Film Festival Aljarafe “Espartinas de Cine”, Sevilla, Spain, and Best Editing at the 2nd Iberoamerican Documentary Film Festival of Memory, (FMDI), México. He is currently working in preproduction on his first feature film Cuernavaca, which participated in IMCINE’s 7th Project Development for First Film Workshop Mexico, and received the Projects Grant, also from IMCINE.
