Sánchez Velasco, Javier

He studied advertising at the Universidad Veracruzana (UV), Mexico. He received, among other grants, the Bicentennial of the Independence and Centenary of the Mexican Revolutionary Commission Grant for the Documentary Video Workshop in the Central del Pueblo, Mexico City, during the period 2009-2010, as well as an artist residency in New York from the National Fund for Culture and the Arts (FONCA) and the National Council of Science and Technology (Conacyt). He participated in the 8th Morelia International Film Festival (FICM) with his documentary short film Vagonero (2010), which won three honorary mentions: at the 6th Independent Hispanic American Film and Video Festival, “All Voices Against the Silence,” Mexico, in the category of Daily Life and Social Change; in the 1st International Documentary Film Festival DOCSTOWN, Mexico; and in the 1st Lakino – Latin American Film Festival Berlin, Germany.
